5 steps to Perfect Hummus
One of my favorite snacks is hummus! It's a healthy and delicious dip for your veggies and a yummy add-on for sandwiches and wraps. After some trial and error I have perfected my recipe and I wanted to share it with you! :-)
Ingredients (always opt for organic if available :-)
1- 15oz can organic Garbanzo beans (rinsed/drained)
1/4 cup fresh squeezed Lemon
1/4 cup organic Tahini
1 tsp minced Garlic
2 Tbsp Olive oil
1/2-1 tsp Salt (to taste)
3/4 tsp ground Cumin
Dash of Cayenne pepper
Dash of Red Pepper flakes
2-3 Tbsp filtered or spring Water
Dash of Paprika and drizzle of Olive Oil (for serving)
How to...
1. Combine tahini and lemon Juice in a food processor for 1 minute, scrape sides and continue processing for 30 seconds.
2. Add minced garlic, olive oil, salt, cumin, cayenne, and red pepper flakes. Process for 30 seconds, scrape the sides, and continue to process for 30 more seconds.
3. Add half the garbanzo beans and process for 1 minute.
4. Add the second half and process for another 1-2 minutes while gradually adding small amounts of the water to reach a smooth consistency.
5. Transfer to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika...Enjoy!!
If possible let it rest in the refrigerator for a couple hours before serving (helps all the flavors meld together). Be sure to store it in the frig and enjoy for the next week :-)
